Discussion Starter · #1 · Jun 1, 2008. i'm getting a rattly noise that has got progressively worst over the last couple of days. looked underneath and the exhaust seems solid but the heat shield that goes over it is quite loose and flapping about, both over the mid section and also it is quite loose over the rear box.

2010 Prius. Model: III. This week, driving through the piles of snow in the streets, a bottom heat shield partially fell off of the car. If it is the heat shield you can whack the exhaust system on the pipe with a soft rubber mallet to replicate the frequency needed to produce the sound.

If it were me, I would not worry about it or replace it.Feb 12, 2015 · The Honda still has a heat shield embedded into the underside of the car- so I don't worry about extra heat coming in through the floor boards. Still, I am debating buying the two parts and adding them in the Spring, or just going commando. Several members here tore those off (due to rust) and never looked back.
